Maybe it isn't for you in the end.UBar is a full-featured replacement for the standard Dock in OS X. In fact it would be pretty interesting to see what you come up with, given your initial reaction.

It's a free trial, so I would suggest you try it and see what Preferences work for you, if you're interested. UBar has many options that can be set to make it look like the Taskbar, but you can also make it more like the Dock, just with more features. The Dock is made to be a basic launcher to satisfy the basic needs of the majority of people. The Apple Dock has remained unchanged, in essence, since 2001. 8) You can of course charge whatever you like, but I'd personally be more comfortable with yearly or bi-yearly releases at something like $15.

Just pin apps, don't run any non-pinned apps, and the space shows up.

3) That will make apps minimize to the dock rather than hide?Ĥ) Looking for Command-#, that is my muscle memory 5) I have it uninstalled now, but it should be very easy to replicate.
#UBAR MACOS WINDOWS#
Windows and linux have docks that can be styled to look identical to the MacOS dock. Same spacing and same background and it will look identical. That said, I really do appreciate the feedback. Just think of the man-hours involved in just the actionable feedback you just gave me. That's why you don't see utilities like this anymore. If you email me a screenshot I can look into that one. Uncheck 'Left-click to display grouped window list' in PreferencesGeneral. That kind of customization is on the todo list. Only Apple can give you exactly that one. $30 really seems like a lot to ask for a utility like this. I would prefer a simple unobtrusive star or square. When pinned to the side of the screen, which is my preferred location, the running app indicators (white line) remains below the icons, rather than to the side as in the stock dock. I can't deal with weird on my screen near-100% of the time. This blank space disappears if I run an app that isn't pinned, but looks weird otherwise. No way to pin all my apps without a blank space at the end of the dock between the pinned apps and the trash. So if I had Finder all the way in the first spot, Win-1 would either activate/run finder or minimize it if already the topmost window. Windows allows you to switch to (or minimize) the apps in the taskbar by order with hotkeys. I really love that and almost switched to uBar just for that.īut would prefer option to minimize instead. Can set it so clicking on a running app in the dock automatically hides it, like Windows. Can't control spacing icons are much further apart than on the stock dock. I really want it to look identical to the stock MacOS dock, but be more configurable.
